Top qualities of being a great co-worker

I’ve held jobs in the office, virtually, and hybrid. I’ve worked at academic institutions, startups, and enterprise software companies.

Regardless of the work environment I was in, the top qualities I look for in a team and co-worker hasn’t changed:

• Be nice: The alternative just isn’t great.

• Be reliable: Make yourself known as someone who people can count on.

• Be honest: If you screwed up, or you don’t like the sound of something, please say so. It does more harm to not say it.

• Be communicative: Over-communicating is the best. I’d rather you share more detail than leave me wondering.
